PUPPY NEWS

Callaghan is a Halle/Timber son from Dayspring Shilohs. Caili is also from Dayspring, from the first Stormie/Tazer litter.  Both Caili and Cal are huge, with heavy bone and good structure, so we expect some super-size pups from this litter!  We may also have some white or buff pups, as both may carry the white recessive necessary for producing a white or buff pup.  Caili and Cal both have wonderful temperaments, and we are expecting to see some true 'gentle giants'!  If you would like more information please feel free to email me:  jackie@southwindshilohs.com

ON SELECTING A SHILOH PUP

All ISSR Shiloh Shepherd pups are given a Litter Evaluation at 8 weeks of age, to give a pretty close predictor of the pup's temperament, drive, and energy level.  Shiloh pups can run the range from a very laid back couch potato to a very high drive suitable for SAR work, agility or Rally training. 

When you fill out a puppy application, be sure to be very accurate and honest in what you are looking for in a pup to fit into  your household, and what special circumstances might exist. 

After the LER is done, the pups are matched most closely with the people asking for a particular 'personality'.  This is probably the most important part of the selection process, and also the portion that most people are unfamiliar with.  Most of us who have had dogs have just gone to a breeder or shelter, looked at a pup, and said, 'that one', based on looks or a perceived spunkiness.  Unfortunately, many times this can end up in a disaster, as the pup grows up and perhaps has a harder temperament or more stubbornness than we asked for!
